Wine and olive oil route
Serravalle Pistoiese
A journey through history, tradition, and flavor, exploring unique villages and landscapes, with fine wines and excellent olive oil from the Tuscan hills.
Among the hills surrounding the hamlet of Serravalle Pistoiese, a route rich in history and traditions unfolds: the Strada del vino e dell’olio del Montalbano (Wine and olive oil route of Montalbano).
A journey to be explored by car, bicycle, or on foot, in multiple stages, to enjoy the landscape, discover small villages, parish churches, and historic residences, and taste the gastronomic excellence of the region.
This itinerary passes through Vinci, Larciano, with the Padule di Fucecchio, Quarrata, and Carmignano.
The Protagonists
The Montalbano area is renowned for its red and white wines, such as Chianti Montalbano DOC, Bianco della Valdinievole DOC, Vin Santo della Valdinievole, and Bianco Empolese DOC. These are joined by the equally famous and appreciated wines from the Carmignano area, including Carmignano DOCG, Vin Ruspo DOC, Barco Reale DOC, and Vin Santo di Carmignano DOC.
In addition to being dominated by vineyards, the landscape is dotted with olive groves spreading across the hillsides. Thanks to favourable climatic conditions, the region produces an olive oil of high nutritional value and exceptional organoleptic qualities, perfect for traditional dishes or simply enjoyed on a slice of Tuscan bread.
Le Colline di Leonardo
The Strada del vino e dell’olio del Montalbano is a project managed by the association Le Colline di Leonardo, which today plays a key role in coordinating businesses and operators, combining production, culture, and tourism to enhance and promote the territory and its resources.
